STATUS
Concept Phase
A tower as an ecological device.
Embaúba Tower takes its name from one of Brazil’s most symbolic trees, known for its regenerative force. Like the Embaúba, a pioneer species that restores damaged landscapes and fosters biodiversity, the tower reimagines São Paulo’s skyline as a living, evolving system.
The project repositions architecture as a mediator between urban growth and environmental repair. By introducing vegetation and biodiversity into the vertical plane, it proposes a new typology for São Paulo: regenerative, performative, and alive.
In just 130 years, São Paulo has grown from a modest settlement into a sprawling metropolis. Its population has surged from 65,000 to over 12 million, with nearly 24 million in the greater metropolitan area, placing immense pressure on infrastructure, shrinking public green spaces, and compromising environmental resources and quality of life.
To build a sustainable future for cities like São Paulo, architecture must operate at every scale, restoring balance between built and natural systems. Embaúba Tower embraces this responsibility by integrating strategies that not only reduce impact but also enhance everyday life. Its design seamlessly unites an art gallery, hotel, and office spaces within a single mixed-use structure, choreographing light and shadow, movement and scale into a dynamic and memorable spatial experience.
