Maison Bourglinster explores the balance between the private and the shared, individuality and collectivity, an inherent duality within the terrace house typology.
In this project, the hidden boundary separating one dwelling from another becomes the defining element of the architectural concept. As if the two halves were one, certain elements are mirrored with precision, extending across the property line. Others are intentionally asymmetric, creating distinction and a unique yet related identity for each residence. This dialogue unfolds through material expression as well, revealing a subtle choreography between unity and division, connection and disconnection.
Generous openings link the houses to the surrounding landscape, framing long views and allowing natural light to shape the interiors. Elements and materials flow seamlessly inside, naturally defining the spatial zones of the home. The entrance is marked by a side bridge leading into a double-height space that opens to wide views of the Luxembourgish countryside.
The result is a building that celebrates coexistence, a study of how a familiar typology can evolve to express both shared belonging and individual character.
